A week after I posted a video about why NDA’s are pointeless before a meeting, someone asked to meet with me, with the condition I signed an NDA. I felt like another video on the topic was needed.

A week ago, I recorded a video about not asking for an NDA when you meet with a potential partner, potential investor or similar people, that you want to meet and today, which is about a week after recording that video, I received any e-mail from somebody that wanted to meet me, maybe ask for an investment and the guy asked for a confidentiality agreement, right? It’s basically the same thing as an NDA and the thing is, besides the reasons I’ve underlined in the previous video, I realized there’s also another reason why you shouldn’t ask for that and the reason is trust.

Why would you want to meet with somebody that you can’t trust to keep a secret if the idea is so big? I wouldn’t want to meet with that kind of people, so it’s it’s a problem of trust, about the person that you meet, which is not the best way to start a relationship and the other thing is: you’re not trusting the person that made the recommendation, the contact, the initial intro, because if you trust that person, you trust the recommendation as well. So, basically, why would you want to meet with somebody that you don’t trust, from a recommendation that you don’t trust?

Just don’t do it. If you don’t feel that you can trust those people, don’t meet with them. In no way ask for a confidentiality agreement, because somebody untrustworthy will break the confidentiality agreement. That’s it.
